Enhancing the Role of Citizens and Religious Leaders in Yemen’s Political Transition, Oct. 2017 – May 2020, funded by State Department Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. The project implemented in partnership with ICRD, Partners Global and Partners Yemen. Partners Yemen implemented activities that worked to enhance the role and collaboration of Yemeni religious actors in contributing to reconciliation and peaceful political transition in Yemen. The activities aimed to improve the role of religious leaders to lead community-level dialogues and inform local peace initiatives and increase the contributions of Yemeni citizens at the grassroots and community level in shaping Yemen’s political transition. The project adopted an innovative bottom-up mechanism and took concrete steps towards developing the social cohesion and collaboration that seem necessary engaging local citizens. By training and engaging trusted religious leaders along with the representatives of the local civil society organizations in eight governorates in Yemen Sana’a, Dhamar, Ibb and Taiz from and Aden, Lahj, Abyan and Shabwah. Two (2) TOT training conducted for 45 participants, 8 community dialogues at district level, 239 men and women participated from different professional backgrounds. lists of issues and priorities developed for each governorate, two (2) regional and one (1) national dialogue conducted. Total of 13 community initiatives were implemented.
