Al-Jawf is a Yemeni governorate located in the north-east of the country. With an area of 39,496 square kilometers (15,234 sq mi), it is the second largest governorate in Yemen by area. Its capital is the city of Al-Hazm. Al-Jawf is a mountainous region, and is famous for the cultivation of grains, legumes, and fruits. It is also home to many archaeological sites, including the city of Qarnaw, which was the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Ma'in.
Al-Jawf suffers from many problems, including poverty, hunger and unemployment. It has also witnessed an armed conflict since 2015, which led to the destruction of many homes and facilities. However, Al Jawf is also a region with a rich history and culture, and its inhabitants are hospitable people with a strong spirit.
